Animal Program Assistant

Flexible; weekdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Do you love working with animals? If so, then this is for you! Assistants help with the handling, daily care and treatment of the animals in the Museum of Natural History & Science and the Duke Energy Children’s Museum. Tasks involve cleaning animal cages and rooms, food preparation, socializing the animals, assisting and conducting animal demonstrations and assisting with animal educational programming. Looking for highly motivated and responsible individuals who possess excellent visitor service skills. Previous animal handling experience is a plus, but not required. Training is required and will be provided. *Note: Volunteers are not permitted to handle bats.
