Grounded in a solid knowledge of American urban history and museum practice, the Director of Exhibit Programs will bring a comprehensive vision and enthusiasm necessary to effectively lead a professional staff and large corps of volunteers in the development and implementation of a coherent interpretive plan for the Cincinnati History Museum. This will include oversight of the development, implementation and evaluation of floor programming; coordination with other CMC departments especially collections and exhibit staffs; and oversight of a staff and volunteer evaluation program. The director will be responsible for ensuring that program content is reflective of current historical scholarship and grounded in contemporary adult and child learning theory.
Working with two coordinators and the education department, the director will guide the development and implementation of floor demonstrations and gallery activities that are implemented by staff specialists, youth and adult volunteers.
The director will oversee the interviewing, hiring, training, motivating and evaluating the front-line interpretive staff. The director will work closely with the Assistant Vice President for History and Research to develop the annual budget and ensure that the department runs within the budget.
